Monhegan Island Light, off the coast of Maine, was built in 1850. It stands 47 feet tall, but has a focal plane of 178 feet because it is located at a high point on the island. An artist colony, Monhegan island has been a favorite for 3 generations of the Wyeth family as well as many other artists and writers. |
